Migrations

These sculptures came from my interest in how our distant ancestors moved out of Africa and migrated over thousands of years around the earth and became the peoples we are now. DNA testing has allowed researchers to track the waves of migration and the paths early people took.

Early Passage, 2 views, Masonry, acrylic and cast glass stairs, 19″ x 27″ x 6.5″

This relief mural will trace the signs and symbols left behind by people as they migrated around the earth. Their paths were traced by DNA testing of modern populations and also ancient remains. It is made of thin shell masonry over metal lath with acrylic paint. the size is approximately 18 ‘ x 6 ‘
